Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, is recovering in hospital after a violent attack on Wednesday evening.
The 35-year-old was stabbed multiple times in a car park near his home in Mataró, north of Barcelona.
Local reports suggest the attack followed a confrontation with a group of people earlier in the day. Three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, with a fourth in custody.
Nasraoui has since taken to social media to reassure fans about his condition, expressing gratitude for the support he has received.
“Thank you all for your encouragement, I’m better now,” he posted. “A big hug to everyone.”
While the investigation into the incident is ongoing, it has emerged that Nasraoui has a history with his attackers, dating back several years.
The incident has shocked the football world and cast a shadow over the recent success of his son, who was instrumental in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph.
