2025 budget will ease hardships, and create jobs – Sammy Gyamfi

The Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi has said that the 2025 budget statement to be presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister contains a measure to ease the hardships Ghanaians are saddled with.

He says the document also details measures to create jobs.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 ahead of the budget presentation, he said “I am very optimistic that by the time the Finance Minister finishes presenting the budget many Ghanaians will find hope in his words. we are going to have a budget that represents our needs and aspirations as a people, a budget that will ease hardships, and create jobs.”

“Today a lot more clarity will be provided by the Finance Minister regarding the move to establish a Godl Board, he added.

Minister of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has said that the 2025 budget captures some of the issues emanating from the recent National Economic dialogue.

Similarly, he said that the concerns raised by the traders when the Finance Minister visited the central business district of Accra also feature in the budget.

The Minister of Finance, Dr Casiel Ato Forson, will present the 2025 budget statement in Parliament today, Tuesday, March 11.

The budget is expected to detail the government’s expenditure plans for the next fiscal year.

The government had assured of its commitment to economic stabilization and sustainable growth.

Speaking to the press after a recent cabinet meeting, Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu assured Ghanaians that the government remains committed to fulfilling its social and economic promises.

He confirmed that the fiscal policy will reflect the administration’s 120-day pledges, including the removal of the betting tax and COVID levy.

Additionally, the budget will outline the financial state inherited by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government while offering hope and strategic policies for national development.

Ahead of the budget presentation, the Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson assured Ghanaians that the Mahama administration would remain mindful of their needs at all times.

He said the government will do all it can to truly represent the concerns of the people especially in the national budget.

He said this on his X page after an engagement with traders at Accra’s Central Business District.

“We are deeply grateful to you all our compatriots at Makola who welcomed us with open hearts, sharing your thoughts, fears, challenges, and ideas. We assure you that we will always remain mindful of your needs as a government. we will do all we can to truly represent you. This is just the beginning of many meaningful engagements—we are here to serve you!” he wrote.

In a subsequent session on X Spaces, hosted by social media influencer KalyJay, on Sunday, March 9 Dr Forson indicated that the government remains committed to open dialogue and continuous engagement with the people

During the engagement itself, Dr Forson acknowledged that, despite recent efforts, Ghana’s financial situation remains fragile.

He cautioned against complacency, stating, “Let me make this point: let’s not deceive ourselves that the country is out of the woods yet. Our economy is still in distress, and the first thing we will need to do is to take measures to bring us back to the stability that we deserve.”
