Ghana Premier League is getting more interesting- Otto Addo

Ghana coach Otto Addo believes the country’s top-flight league is experiencing a revival after watching a recent match.

Addo watched Medeama defeat Legon Cities 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on Saturday and was impressed with the level of competitiveness.

Speaking to the media after the game, Addo said, “This is my first season [observing the league closely]. At the end of the last season, I watched a little bit of videos; it was okay in general.”

He continued, “I think it’s picking up, it’s getting more interesting, and we have to see. I think it’s early; it’s now early [to make an assessment]. Let’s watch the season and see how the players perform. I think the performance, in general, is going up. When I compare it to two years ago, it has improved.”

Addo is scouting players ahead of crucial games against Sudan next month. He could include more home-based players this time after inviting only Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare in his last call-up for the defeat against Angola and draw with Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
