    Ghana To Launch 5G Service On November 1 – Minister of Communications

    In a recent radio interview, Ghana’s Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation stated that Ghana’s launch of its 5G service would go ahead on November 1st, 2024.

    In a radio interview with Kwame Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s Kokorokoo, the Minister of Communication stated that the launch would be happening on Friday 1st November 2024, instead of the planned September launch.

    On June 24th, in a press conference, the Minister stated that the country would launch its shared 5G network by September 2024.

    Details

    The Government had announced that it was partnering with industry players such as Ascend Digital, K-NET, Radisys, Nokia, Tech Mahindra, AT Ghana, and Telecel Ghana to roll out 5G services on a shared platform.

    MTN was confirmed by the Minister of Communications to have taken part in the discussions.

    The network would be deployed by Next-Gen Infrastructure Company (NGIC).

    Notably, MTN was ready to launch its 5G pilot in 2022 but canceled its plans for unknown reasons.
