Thomas Tuchel set to become England’s next manager

Thomas Tuchel is set to become the next England manager.

The former Bayern and Chelsea boss will become the third non-British permanent head coach of the England men’s team, following in the footsteps of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

This development comes after Gareth Southgate’s resignation following the Three Lions’ defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Lee Carsley has been serving as interim manager, with hopes of continuing through the autumn while the Football Association evaluates suitable candidates.

Earlier this summer, an approach was made to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to gauge his interest in the role.

Tuchel, who has extensive experience in English football from his time at Chelsea between January 2021 and September 2022, won the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup during his tenure.

In June, he ruled himself out of the running for the Manchester United job after meeting with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
