Thomas Tuchel set to be named new England manager

Thomas Tuchel has officially signed a deal with the Football Association to become the new head coach of the England national team according to media reports from the UK.

The 51-year-old German tactician replaces Gareth Southgate, who stepped down from his role in June following England’s defeat in the 2024 European Championship final against Spain.

Tuchel, widely known for leading Chelsea to Champions League triumph in 2021, becomes England’s first-ever German-born manager. He had been out of work since his departure from Bayern Munich at the end of last season.

The FA’s chief executive, Mark Bullingham, and technical director, John McDermott, have been in talks with Tuchel since last month, making him the top candidate to revive the Three Lions’ fortunes as they look ahead to the upcoming international competitions.

The move will see the former PSG boss reunite with Bayern striker  Harry Kane who he coached during their time together with the Bavarians last season.

Tuchel’s appointment comes with high expectations as he brings his tactical expertise and proven success on the European stage to the England setup, aiming to lead the nation to their first major trophy since 1966.
