Fatawu Issahaku is special – Gary Lineker

Former England international and BBC Match Of The Day pundit Gary Lineker has described Ghanaian winger Fatawu Issahaku as a special player after the Ghanaian came off the bench to spur Leicester City to a 3-2 comeback win over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Issahaku came on for Leicester City as a substitute at the weekend with his side trailing 2-0 at Saint Mary’s Stadium.

Five minutes after his introduction, the winger set up Facundo Buonanotte to pull a goal back for the Foxes before playing a key part in helping Leicester City win a penalty kick, which Vardy tucked away.

The winger was nearly rewarded for his persistent probing when he hit the frame of Southampton’s goal with a curled effort.

Moved off his feet by Issahaku’s outstanding cameo, Gary Lineker was full of praise for the Ghanaian in his post-match assessment.

“As a Leicester fan and my kids all follow Leicester as well, every time we see the team sheet we go: “Oh, not again, why is he not playing.” This kid is special,” he said on BBC Match Of the Day.

Lineker was not the only one taken aback by Issahaku’s performance, with former Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given echoing the Ghanaian’s immense impact off the bench.

“He is a special talent. They were two nil down when he came off the bench, played 31 minutes and had more touches in the opposition box. If Steve doesn’t start him, I don’t think he will be overly happy but he is a brilliant talent.”

Issahaku’s mesmerizing performance was capped off by his fellow countryman Jordan Ayew, who bagged the winning goal in stoppage time to hand Leicester their second league win of the season.

The winger will look to add to his two assists and nail a starting berth in the team when the Foxes face Nottingham Forest at the King Power next weekend.
