    National House of Chiefs urges Ghanaians to ensure peaceful elections on December 7

    The National house of Chiefs has urged all Ghanaians to uphold the law, especially with the December 7′ presidential and parliamentary elections approaching.

    This is contained in a press release dated November 1 and signed by the Registrar, Anthony Yeboah Tabiri.

    ” Ghana proudly boasts of three decades of democratic elections and peaceful transfer of power. earning recognition as West Africa’s beacon of democracy. The House emphasizes that all citizens should refrain from undermining democracy through electoral manipulation, violence, or media coercion,” the chiefs urged.

    The admonished that ” Instead, stakeholders should promote free, fair and transparent elections. The Electoral Commission and its related agencies must discharge their duties impartially.”

    In a related development, the National House of Chiefs has condemned illegal mining with its environmental and health hazards. ” and henceforth Nananom declare the practice banned throughout their lands in Ghana.”

    ” Nananom hereby resolve to seize, destroy any machinery. equipment, tools, implements etc. used in furtherance of the act. Nananom further undertake to liaise with law enforcement agencies to prosecute all offenders” they assured.

    Meanwhile, the  outgoing President of National House Chiefs who is also the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional area Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II has admonished chiefs to continue to advocate for fair and peaceful elections on December 7.

    According to him, chiefs are the mediators between the various political parties, therefore they must lead by example.

    He made this statement during his end of tenure speech as president of National House Chiefs for four years.

    Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II was elected as president of National House of Chiefs on Thursday, November 12, 2020.

    He succeeded Togbe Afede XIV the paramount chief of Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State.
