Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has attributed his team’s defeat to Heart of Lions on Sunday to fatigue.
The game’s only goal came from Kwadwo Obeng Jr, who capitalised on a goalkeeping error by Mohammed Camara, giving Lions a great win in Obuasi.
Camara was in for Frederick Asare, who had been criticised for his midweek performance against Legon Cities. That match marked Kotoko’s first defeat of the season with a 2-1 loss, and their struggles continued as Lions, well-prepared, added to their woes at Len Clay Stadium.
After the match, Ogum explained, “We looked very tired on the field. The stress of the journey from Kumasi to Anyinase is about nine hours; we played on Sunday and then travelled another 10 hours to Accra. After that, we played on Wednesday and had to travel all the way from Accra back to Kumasi. You could see they were tired. It was fatigue that affected our performance.”
Kotoko will face Bechem United next, looking to recover after dropping from second to third in the Ghana Premier League standings.
