Pharrell Williams is just like Us when it comes to chicken nuggets.
The “Happy” singer revealed that he was fired from McDonald’s three times before finding fame as a prolific music producer, including once after he was caught eating McNuggets.
“McDonald’s was my first and only job. I got fired three times. I was eating the chicken nuggets,” Williams, 51, shared in a recent interview on the U.K.’s BBC Radio 2, per Billboard.
He continued, “The first two times it was just because I was lazy. The third was like, ‘What are you doing? You’re just sitting there eating nuggets?’”
Williams isn’t the only star who has a past in fast food.
In June 2019, rapper Nicki Minaj opened up about being fired from multiple Red Lobster locations.
“I have worked at a couple different Red Lobsters and I’ve gotten fired from all three or four of them,” Minaj told Jimmy Fallon on his late-night talk show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“I walked up to this lady. Her and her boyfriend had walked out of the restaurant and they took my pen and they didn’t tip me,” Minaj explained why she got let go from one Red Lobster gig. “I walked to the car, I banged on the car window and I said: ‘Gimme my pen!’” Minaj said she gave the couple the middle finger and was fired “on the spot” by her manager.
Mean Girls star Rachel McAdams also admitted she wasn’t a “great” McDonald’s employee. “I was 16 and directing kids’ theater, which didn’t totally pay the bills,” the actress explained her short-lived fast food career.
“[I worked at McDonald’s] for a good three years. I was not a great employee; I broke the orange juice machine one day,” McAdams added to Glamour magazine in January 2012.
Despite McAdams’ lackluster performance, the actress described McDonald’s as “a great place to work.”
“I had a little bit of an OCD thing with hand washing and just didn’t have time,” she said. “They were like, ‘Hey, the drive-through’s backing up. Stop washing your hands!’”
Meanwhile, in February 2019, Chris Pratt recalled working at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company before finding fame — and admitted to helping himself to leftover shrimp.
“Twenty years ago I was a waiter at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Every time I go back I’m reminded of the thousands of shrimp I ate off of people’s plates on the way back to the kitchen,” the Guardians of the Galaxy star captioned an Instagram photo of himself at his old stomping grounds. “Please tip your server. Leave at least 20%. Also leave some shrimp.”
