Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi has described his maiden call-up with the Black Stars as a dream come true after he was included in Ghana’s 25-man squad for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifying games against Angola and Niger.
Antwi joined Asante Kotoko in July from Accra Great Olympics after the Accra-based side were relegated from the league at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Since joining the Porcupine Warriors, the midfielder has been a fundamental part of the team, starring in key games and helping the team make a strong start to the 2024/25 campaign – one that sees Kotoko currently in third place on the league log.
Despite links with numerous clubs during the summer’s transfer window, the midfielder believes his step to Kotoko is what has aided his call-up.
“I have been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time and it’s a dream come true and it shows I made the right decision by joining Asante Kotoko,” he said to the club’s media.
Antwi is one of three local players – together with Samartex’s Isaac Afful and Nations FC’s Razak Simpson – who got the nod from coach Otto Addo in Ghana’s team.
The Black Stars face Angola on November 15 before playing Niger on November 18.
