We are not happy with the team’s current performance – Kotoko coach Prsoper Ogum

Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Ogum, says the technical team and the playing body are unimpressed with the Porcupine Warriors’ recent slump in performance.

After a breathtaking start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, where Kotoko recorded four wins and played out two draws, the record Ghana Premier League Champions have struggled to garner wins in their last three games.

Kotoko lost to Heart of Lions last weekend at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, a result which was preceded by their first loss of the season to Legon Cities.

The back-to-back defeats and a 1-1 draw on matchday eight against Basake Holy Stars have seen Kotoko relinquish their grip at the summit of the league, falling into third place.

Speaking to the club media ahead of the team’s clash against Bechem United on Sunday, Prosper Ogum said: “Very worried, very concerned about it. The whole technical team, the playing body, everybody is worried, everybody is not happy about it. Because, per how we started the league, least did we expect that we could go into such a situation because the players were gradually peaking, and they  were doing well. They had their confidence, everything was fine, they were playing well. But then that is the nature of the game, sometimes, you don’t get what you want.”

Asante Kotoko’s woes have been compounded by the injury of striker Albert Amoah, who has scored the most goals in the league (5), and a trip to Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park against Bechem United – a ground they have failed to secure a league win since 2016.
