French débutante, Aliénor Loppin de Montmort, has come to the defense of Apple Martin after they both attended the high society Le Bal des Debutantes.
Online critics blasted the daughter of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow after Apple, 20, appeared in a TikTok video last week that led to accusations of “mean girl” behavior.
In the viral video posted by Paris Match, both girls are featured. Loppin de Montmort can be seen posing for a photo before Apple jumps in in jest to strike her own poses – an action which was slammed by some in the comments.
Speaking to People on Thursday, December 5, Loppin de Montmort hit back at the claims and instead had nothing but kind words for Apple.
“[Apple’s] genuinely the nicest girl ever! She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting,” Loppin de Montmort told the outlet. “She was the nicest girl ever towards not only me but all the debs!”
Apple made her high society debut at the annual event, held at the Hotel Shangri-La in Paris on Saturday, November 30.
Among the other debs this season were Sophia Loren’s granddaughter Lucia Sofia Ponti, Princess Eugenia de Bourbon and Sophie Kodjoe, the daughter of actors Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker.
For the event, Apple stunned in a blue Valentino gown featuring six dégradé tiers of silk plissé chiffon and cinched with a black bow, according to Vogue.
It took creative director Alessandro Michele and his team 750 hours to craft Apple’s gown, which she paired with strappy, blue heels by the brand.
Friendly exes Chris and Gwyneth, who also share son Moses, 18, attended the event, with the Coldplay musician sharing a sweet father-daughter moment with Apple.
The singer shared a slow dance with Apple as part of her introduction into formal society in Chris smiled and laughed while dancing in a ballroom for the occasion, according to a TikTok shared by Paris Match.
Gwyneth and Chris famously “consciously uncoupled” in 2014 but have vowed to coparent amicably over the years.
“Chris and I committed to putting them first and that’s harder than it looks because some days you really don’t want to be with the person that you are getting divorced from,” Gwyneth, 52, said on The Drew Barrymore Show in September 2020. “But if you’re committed to having family dinner then you do it. You take a deep breath, and you look the person in the eye, and you remember your pact, and you smile, and you hug and you recommit to this new relationship that you are trying to foster.”
