The Ghana Police Service has arrested some 89 persons for various acts of violence across the nation. Amongst these persons, 40 of them are linked to acts of vandalism, destruction of properties and looting across the nation.
According to the police, all these violent acts were committed by the suspects post-election.
At a press briefing at the national police headquarters on Monday, December 9, 2024, police say the suspects are currently in custody and will be made to face the law.
“There have been limited cases of looting, vandalism and destruction of properties in some locations across the country.
“89 suspects have so far been arrested in connection with various offences. 40 of these suspects are directly connected to the acts of vandalism, looting and destruction of properties. All these suspects are in custody and will be taken through the due process of the law,” Director of Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi noted.
ACP Grace-Ansah-Akrofi added that a special investigation team have been established to review all videos of acts of violence and vandalism and identify the perpetrators to make them face the law.
“We would like to use this opportunity to caution persons to desist from such acts of violence since the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to justice,” she added.
