The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene has pledged to work with all employees of the Regional Coordinating Council to satisfy the interest and development agenda of Asanteman.
On his first day at work, the Minister engaged staff at the various departments to properly acquaint himself with their operations and deliberate on how they can work together to give the region a befitting status.
Dr Amoakohene outlined issues of youth unemployment, security, sanitation, illegal mining, and infrastructure deficit as his topmost priorities to tackle.
“President John Mahama has Asanteman’s best interest at heart and these are issues he had tasked me to focus on. We can easily achieve this if we all collaborate and work efficiently,” he assured.
Regarding the abandoned Regional Minister’s official residence and the Presidential Villa, Dr Amoakohene hinted that, “a team has been commissioned to review the management of ARCC and develop a comprehensive plan for the redevelopment of the Presidential & Regional Ministers’ Residence.”
Commuters have in recent time raised concerns about ‘trotro’ drivers charging unapproved fares.
The Regional Minister has tasked a team at KMA to assess the concerns over the dubious charges by some drivers within the city.
Poised to continue and complete infrastructure projects, Dr Amoakohene has instructed all Coordinating Directors to provide a detailed report on all stalled government projects within their districts and municipalities.
Touching on allegations of proposed increment in market toll, he assured traders that “there are no plans to increase Kejetia trading fees from GHC 2 to GHC 5.
On his decongestion plans, Dr Amoakohene said extensive stakeholder engagement will be done for an inclusive city planning and management strategy before any action is taken.
The Minister will meet with members of the Regional Security Council on Tuesday February 4 to discuss about ways to deal decisively with illegal mining.
