In a surprising endorsement, private legal practitioner, Lawyer Martin Kpebu has suggested that if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fails to consider Ablakwa as a Vice-Presidential candidate for the 2028 elections, it would be a missed opportunity.
Mr Kpebu said this during discussions on the KeyPoints programme on TV3.
“If the NDC doesn’t make you a vice-presidential candidate in 2028, I don’t know what they’ll be doing in that election,” Kpebu remarked on February 8.
Ablakwa, in response, acknowledged the suggestion and stated that that is for a discussion on another day.
Mr Kpebu proceeded to urge Mr Ablakwa to publish the assets he has declared per the requirement for being appointed as Foreign Affairs Minister.
“The late President Rawlings and some of his ministers published their assets. You should consider publishing yours,”he advised.
Samauel Okudzeto Ablakwa has faced public backlash following his vetting for the new role. His responses to questions relating to his residence at Airport Hills left tongues wagging. But speaking on the KeyPoints, he said the owners of the Airtport Hills residences have written to the Appointment Committee upon his request.
