Time-tested movie director and producer, Evangelist Samuel Nyamekye has lauded the Ashanti Regional Minister’s initiative to meet Kumasi moviemakers to discuss challenges bedeviling the Kumawood movie industry.
The Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene assembled Kumasi movie players last Monday to offer his policy direction for the Kumawood industry and what his administration has installed to revive the dwindling industry.
Speaking to Tony Best on Akoma Mmre on Akoma FM on Thursday, February 20, 2025 the astute filmmaker indicated that in the event the Minister did not carry out his plans, he would appreciate just because of this singular approach.
“Up until I met the minister, there were several opinions of his maturity but I can confidently tell you that he might be young in terms of age but the ideas he espoused when we met him put him at the very top, he is very thoughtful and experienced.
“I brought the movie to Kumasi and I have seen several regional ministers but none initiated this approach, it is very commendable and a good step to the revival of the industry”.
Mr Nyamekye indicated the minister is planning to mount a big billboard with a portrait displaying how Kumasi is a crucial centre of Ghanaian movie.
