Majority in Parliament on Friday, February 21 prevented MP for Akwatia, Ernest Yaw Kumi from making a statement in Parliament.
A statement to be delivered by the embattled MP for Akwatia Ernest Kumi was arrested by the Majority, which said the lawmaker has been convicted for contempt by a High Court, pending sentencing and should not be allowed to make the statement.
Proceedings of Parliament on Friday ended in a dramatic fashion when the speaker was forced to adjourn sitting due to heated exchanges which arose after the majority members blocked the Akwatia MP.
A furious Minority described the move as unfair, causing an eventual adjournment.
Mr. Kumi, who had an injunction placed against him barring him from being sworn in as a Member of Parliament, defied the order and took his oath on January 7.
Ernest Yaw Kumi reportedly appealed against the contempt of court conviction slapped on him by the High Court.
