Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has announced that the oxygen plant at the 37 Military Hospital is now fully operational, marking a significant improvement in the facility’s healthcare services.
He emphasized that this development reflects President John Dramani Mahama’s unwavering commitment to enhancing human security as part of his broader mission to revamp Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure.
During a recent working visit to the hospital, Dr. Boamah discovered that the oxygen plant had been out of service, posing a critical risk to the supply of medical oxygen for surgical theatres, Intensive Care Units (ICUs), various hospital wards, and the National Ambulance Service.
As a medical doctor himself, the Defence Minister acted swiftly to resolve the issue. In response to the urgency of the situation, President Mahama directed the Ministry of Defence to collaborate with the National Security Coordinator to prevent any disruptions in oxygen supply.
New equipment was procured and installed, ensuring a stable and sufficient supply of oxygen for both the hospital and ambulance services.
“I’m excited to announce that we have resolved the issue thanks to our proactive measures. There will be no bad news,” Dr. Boamah stated in a Facebook post. “We remain committed to tackling challenges head-on, including those caused by economic mismanagement.”
