Ghana and CD Lugo forward Jerry Afriyie was stoked after netting his first set of goals for his new club – and says he wants to repeat the feat often.
Afriyie was handed his first start for CD Lugo after an impressive cameo in his debut a week prior.
CD Lugo fell behind to Barakaldo three minutes into the game when Alex Valino’s shot trickled into the net.
Lugo, however, were not behind for long as Jerry Afriyie’s left-footed strike five minutes later drew them level.
Afriyie went on to complete his brace six minutes later with a deft touch at the far post, putting Lugo in control at the break.
The resumption of the second half saw Barakaldo score twice – first in the 70th minute and 85th minute – to claim all three points.
Dissapointed with the result, two-goal hero Jerry Afriyie expressed his excitement but rued Lugo’s missed opportunities.
“It is an incredible and amazing feeling [to score] but it is sad that we lost. I want to see my name on the score sheet often, though” – He told 3Sports
CD Lugo are 16th in the league with 30 points and will be hoping Afriyie, who joined them on loan from parent club Al Qadisiyah in January, will help them preserve their Primera RFEF status.
