Adisadel College millennium year group delivers landmark job 600 renovation

The Adisadel College Millennium (2000) Year Group has achieved a historic milestone with the unveiling of the extensively remodelled and refurbished Job 600 building, marking the most ambitious legacy project ever undertaken by an individual alumni group. The project, which cost over GHC 4 million, was officially handed over on Saturday, March 8, during the school’s 115th Speech and Prize-Giving Day.

The Millennium Year Group demonstrated remarkable dedication, raising GHC 4,742,582.48 internally, securing GHC 500,000 from external sources, and receiving GHC 757,417.52 in sponsorships and in-kind donations.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, President of the year group, Richard Nii Amu Arthur, emphasized the group’s vision:

“As a year group committed to setting new standards, we sought to embark on a project that would leave a lasting impact. Rather than constructing a new structure, we identified an essential yet deteriorating facility on campus—the Job 600 (Science Building). Through extensive consultations with the General Executive Council, we resolved to revamp this multi-purpose building to align with the global standards of the best colleges in the world, ensuring that Adisadel College remains at the forefront of academic excellence.”

Despite financial and logistical setbacks that had hindered previous attempts at renovation, the group remained steadfast. Their unwavering unity and commitment led to the successful completion of this transformative project. Today, the Job 600 building stands as a state-of-the-art facility, symbolizing the power of vision and determination.

The newly refurbished Job 600 boasts several modernized facilities designed to enhance learning and extracurricular activities.

    These include:

Amphitheater – A fully equipped space for lectures, seminars, and performances.

Emerging Technology Lab – A hub fostering technological innovation.

National Science & Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) Room – A dedicated space for competition preparation.

Computer Lab – Equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software.

Physics Lab – A modern space for practical science education.

Media Center – A facility catering to both educational and recreational media.

Staff Rooms – Enhanced workspaces for faculty collaboration.

Administrative Offices – Expanded to meet growing operational needs.

Campus Store – A fully stocked shop for student essentials.

Refurbished Classrooms – Upgraded learning spaces for academic excellence.

Guidance and Counseling Room – A dedicated space for student support and mentorship.

Electrical Rewiring – A complete upgrade for enhanced safety and efficiency.

Expanded Staircases & Emergency Exits – Improved accessibility and safety features.

Roof Renovation & Basement Restrooms – Enhanced durability, weather resistance, and sanitation.

This year’s Speech and Prize-Giving Day was themed “The Role of STEAM Education for National Development in the 21st Century.” Delivering the keynote address, NASA scientist and Adisadel alumnus Dr. Ave Kludze Klutse (Class of ’83) encouraged students to actively engage in STEAM fields.

“Participate in extracurricular activities—join clubs, AI and robotics teams. Continuously seek out new knowledge and stay up to date with the latest advancements in STEAM-related fields,” he urged.

Dr. Kludze also proposed the establishment of an “Emerging Technologies” club to expose students to fields like quantum computing, advanced AI, and self-repairing materials, pledging to serve as its founding patron.

The prestigious event was graced by Otwasuom Osae Nyampong VI, Patron of the Millennium Year Group, as Special Guest, and Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology (MEST), Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, who represented President John Dramani Mahama, as Guest of Honour.

The unveiling of the transformed Job 600 stands as a defining moment in Adisadel College’s history, reinforcing the power of alumni engagement in advancing academic excellence. As the institution strides into the future, this facility serves as a beacon of innovation, leadership, and endless possibilities.
