WATCH! Gigi Lamayne Drops Her Version Of K.O.’s “SETE.” K.O’s Sete has made shockwaves in Mzansi and beyond and the SR3 album lead single made the veteran rapper one of the most sought-after artists last year. This year, the momentum of the song is still there as SETE keeps breaking records in the South African music space.
Not only has the song captivated Mzansi music lovers, but it has also caught the attention of K.O’s fellow SA rappers. Taking to Instagram, Gigi Lamayne dropped her version of SETE, titled “SETE For The Babies.” The freestyle comes with the same beat and some of the lyrics sound the same as the original version from K.O.
The Ice cream hitmaker floated on the beat with beautiful melodies as she appreciated Mr CashTime for giving her such an opportunity. “Sete for the baby girls 👧 Danko @mrcashtime,” ❤️ wrote Gigi Lamayne.
The rapper also took to Twitter and shared with her followers about the Sete remake stating that it has received a massive reception. “That #Sete thing I did on insta is actually going through the roof,” tweeted Gigi Lamayne.
Despite Sete landing the rapper in the number one spot on radio charts for weeks after its release, the song went under scrutiny after copyright allegations. The rapper took to Twitter and refuted the allegations stating that he did not steal anyone’s beat, rather he bought it online.
“How artists/beatmakers collab in today’s largely virtual music industry. I bought the #SETE beat on an online platform via @Calliemajik‘s page (original producer). Discovered other artists had used it so we replaced some sounds to make mine unique.
“I hold full unlimited rights to the license of the instrumental I bought, which is why the artists who put out their own versions rightfully cannot dispute mine because we’re all governed by the same or lesser copyright. Normal practice in today’s music world,” he explained.
