The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has corroborated comments from Secretary of the Military Service, Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi that the third accused in the ambulance procurement trial was not released honourably from the Ghana Armed Forces.
Lawyers of Richard Jakpa, served subpoenas on the Chief of Defense Staff and Military Secretary to testify regarding documents submitted by the prosecution which asserted that the businessman was dismissed from the military in 2007 for unsatisfactory performance and failure to pass promotional exams.
While cross examining the CDS attorney General and Minister for Justice Godfred Dame asked if the third accused was honorably released from the service, the CDS response was “as per the document, he was not honorably released from the Ghana Armed Forces.”
In court on Thursday, July 18, the Military Secretary noted to the court that Richard Jakpa had been cited for consistent indiscipline, unprofessional behaviour and indebtedness.
Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi submitted two special reports from the Military in May 2004 and 2007 which was admitted into evidence.
