Baby S.O.N Shares If He Had A Feeling Mass Country Would Be AKA’s Final Album. AKA’s Mass Country album will become one of the most historical SA Hip-hop albums considering how the slain rapper curated the project.
Kiernan Forbes used a different approach in making his posthumous body of work. The slain rapper gathered some of the best artists and songwriters in the country all under one roof in KZN to create what he dubbed a “masterpiece.”
In an interview with SA Hip Hop Mag, Baby S.O.N who was amongst the songwriters shared his experience during the making of Mass Country Album. One of the crucial talking points was whether S.O.N. had a feeling that the Mass Country album could be Supa Mega’s last project. “When you look at this Mass Country album, did you get a feeling that this could be his last body of work?”
In response, Baby S.O.N said that he didn’t get that feeling but he revealed that AKA’s aim was to make Mass Country Levels 2.0. “No, but I think it’s crazy because Zadok said this and I also put it in my mind. He said before we even started anything, he said my goal for this, which was his secret mission, is trying to make it Levels 2.0. So me being a fan of Levels, I was like I get you,” he said.
On whether he thinks the Mass Country album managed to surpass the level of Levels, Baby S.O.N said; “no other way, it has to be,” he added. AKA’s last project carries a lot of hints that indicated that he was indeed working on his last project.
Responding on whether Mass Country was the ideal closing album, the famed songwriter said; “I think it’s gonna make sense when you hear it, its crazy because it made sense when I listened to it after. I was like sh*t we didn’t notice it, but we were making his final album. We weren’t trying to, that was not the goal, that was not the plan, but in the end when you listen to it, even the way it starts you know, the first track Last Time,” he said.
