Ballot Boxes destroyed amid post-election tensions

In the early hours of December 17, 2024, a fire erupted at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools in Accra, Ghana.

This facility was serving as the storage site for ballot boxes from the Ablekuma North Constituency following the December 7 general elections.

The blaze reportedly began in the school’s library, which had been temporarily converted into a storage area for the ballot boxes. Eyewitnesses living near the school reported seeing thick smoke and flames engulfing the building shortly after the fire started.

Authorities have assured the public that any individuals found responsible for the fire will be arrested and brought to justice. They have also urged the public to remain calm as the investigation continues.
