Barcelona suffer injury blow as in-form Dani Olmo ruled out for weeks

Barcelona’s impressive season start has been tempered by the news that Dani Olmo will miss 4-5 weeks with a hamstring injury.

The summer signing from RB Leipzig sustained the injury in Barcelona’s convincing 4-1 win against Girona, halting his blistering start.

Before the Catalan derby between Barcelona and Girona, there were concerns that Dani Olmo might not be able to play due to a minor knee injury he picked up while playing for Spain in the September international break.

However, he did play and scored, but unfortunately, he ended up leaving the game with a hamstring injury, which will keep him out for about 4-5 weeks

Barcelona confirmed the news in a statement: “Tests conducted this morning on Dani Olmo have revealed that he has injured his right hamstring. He is expected to be unavailable for about 4 to 5 weeks.”

After missing the first two league matches due to registration issues, Olmo has made a remarkable start, scoring three goals in his first three appearances, including a strike in the derby before his injury, becoming the first new player since Cesc Fabregas in 2011 to achieve this feat.

Olmo’s absence will be felt across multiple fixtures, including La Liga showdowns with Villarreal, Getafe, and Sevilla, and Champions League ties against AS Monaco, Young Boys, and possibly Bayern Munich.

Olmo joins a growing list of key players, including Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ansu Fati, Fermin Lopez, Ronald Araujo, Christensen, and others, who are currently out of action due to injury.

Flick will be missing the services of Olmo and other key players in the next few matches, and Barcelona fans will be eagerly anticipating Olmo’s return, hopefully in time for the highly anticipated El Clasico clash on October 27 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
