Black Stars arrive in Libya for pivotal AFCON qualifier against Sudan

The Black Stars have arrived in Benina, Libya, where they are set to face Sudan in a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

This will be the second meeting between the two teams, following their earlier match in Accra, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Sudan, unable to host games due to ongoing political instability, has chosen Libya as their temporary home venue.

The Ghanaian team departed from Accra on Sunday morning and touched down at Benina International Airport around 6:30 p.m. local time.

They’re now gearing up for this vital encounter as they chase their first win in the qualifiers, with two draws and a defeat in their opening three matches.

Ahead of Tuesday’s match, the Black Stars will hold a pre-match training session at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday.

This game is pivotal for Ghana’s hopes of reaching the tournament in Morocco, as they sit third in Group F with two points. They trail Sudan by two points and group leaders Angola by seven.

A win would be a huge boost, while a loss could further complicate their path to qualification.

Black Stars are well aware of the stakes with kick-off set for 1:00 p.m. GMT.

A victory would not only revitalise their campaign but also take them to second in the group.
