President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier-General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono as the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono, a distinguished military officer and legal professional, currently serves as the Deputy Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) at Burma Camp, Accra.
His appointment brings extensive leadership, legal expertise, and security strategy experience to the GPHA.
Academic and Professional Background
Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono holds multiple advanced degrees, including:
- Master of Laws (LLM) in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the George Washington School of Law
- Master in Management Studies from Osmania University, India
- Master of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Ghana
He was called to the Ghanaian Bar in 2015, further strengthening his legal credentials.
Throughout his career, Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono has held several key leadership positions, including:
- Chief Coordinator at NCDS
- Assistant Commandant at the Training and Doctrine Command
- Deputy Director-General of Training at Ghana’s General Headquarters (GHQ)
His professional development also includes military training from prestigious institutions such as the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the United States Army Command and Staff College, and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono has also played a vital role in peacekeeping operations, having served as:
- Deputy Force Provost Marshal
- Officer in Charge of Special Investigations at UNIFIL Headquarters
His expertise spans counterterrorism, strategic defence management, and operational training, making him a valuable asset to both Ghana’s security and maritime sectors.
His appointment is expected to enhance leadership and operational efficiency at GPHA, leveraging his experience in military strategy, legal affairs, and governance.
