Delta plane crashes and flips upside down at Toronto airport

Emergency teams are responding to a plane crash at Canada’s Toronto Pearson International Airport involving an aircraft from Delta Air Lines arriving from Minneapolis, according to the airport. Video from CNN newsgathering partner CTV shows the plane flipped upside down at the airport.

    • All 80 people on board were evacuated, according to a statement by the Federal Aviation Administration. At least 15 people, including a child, were injured in the crash and two people are in critical condition, CTV reported citing a paramedic service.
    • Strong winds have been impacting Toronto all day. Winds are currently sustained at 32 mph with gusts of 40 mph at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
    • The incident comes less than three weeks after an American Airlines plane collided midair with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter while on approach to Washington DC’s Reagan National Airport, and on the heels of deadly Jeju Air and Azerbaijan Airlines accidents in December.
