Elections affected the buzz around Super Clash – Amos Frimpong

Former Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong has expressed concern over the lack of buzz surrounding the upcoming clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, attributing it to Ghana’s recent general elections.

With just a week to go before the Super Clash between Ghana’s two most successful football clubs, the nation was focused on electing its next president. Frimpong believes this has drawn attention away from the game, which typically dominates media discussions in the lead-up to kickoff.

“I think the elections have affected the hype around the Super Clash,” Frimpong said in an interview with Connect FM.

The former Kotoko skipper also touched on the overall state of Ghanaian football, lamenting the decline in quality and support for the domestic game.

“Ghana football is generally going down. Hopefully, we will get back to where we belong, and people will support our football,” he remarked.

He further called on fans to rally behind the current generation of players, acknowledging the differences between past and present eras.

“Every generation has its players. This is what we have in this generation, and we can only support them.”

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will face at the Baba Yara Stadium in what promises to be a fierce contest.
