Epiphany Warriors outplayed their host, Halifax Queens, beating them 2-1 with a spirited second-half display in their Southern zone Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League matchday two game played at the Mexico Park in Tema on Sunday.
Seidatu Wahab opened the scoring for Halifax Queens on 23 minutes with a close range finish, however, Epiphany Warriors, who were on the front foot in the second half had to wait until the Leticia Adjei found the equaliser on the 84th minute mark.
Just when all was pointing to a draw, Faustina Tiwaa popped up to hit the winner pass goalkeeper Sonia Cbbinah Nora in post for Halifax Queens to make it two straight wins from the opening two games.
In other games in the zone, Jonina Ladies beat Berry Ladies 3-1 at the Madina Astro Turf Park.
A goal from Godsword Nortey plus brace from Josephine Addowaa cancelled out Jemima Twumwaa’s goal.
At the Ajumako Eduyaw Park, Soccer Intellectuals and defending champions, Hasaacas Ladies, played out a goalless draw game, while Police Ladies were held to a 1-1 draw against Army Ladies in the service derby at Alajo Astro Turf, Victoria Teye Williams opened the scoring for Police Ladies in the 20th minute, with Nancy Opoku drawing level seven minutes later.
Action in the Northern zone saw Prison Ladies return to winning ways after their open day loss with a 3-1 victory over newcomers, Sun Shining Ladies, in Wa, with Samuratu Mutawakilu scoring a a hattrick while Mahwud Wasila pulled one back.
Supreme Ladies beat visiting Tamale Super Ladies 1-0 with Florence Adutwumwaa scoring a 90th minute winner, while Amama Issah and Linda Sarpong scored in each half for Savannah FC and Kumasi Sports Academy in their 1-1 draw game.
