GFA EXCO member hints at imminent return of GPL

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Committee member Fredrick Acheampong has hinted that the Ghana Premier League could resume soon.

The league was suspended after Matchday 19 following violent clashes in Nsoatre, which tragically led to the death of a fan.

Speaking after a meeting between the GFA leadership and representatives of all 18 Premier League clubs, Acheampong revealed that plans are in place to restart the competition.

“One of the agreements is that we will meet with the supporters’ leadership, and next week, we will have another meeting with all match commissioners. They know the protocols, but we need to refresh them. If no further issues arise, the league can resume the following weekend.”

However, Asante Kotoko have suspended all football-related activities and insist they will not return until justice is served.

Meanwhile, the number of arrests related to the Nsoatre violence has risen to six, with the latest suspect being a female identified as Elizabeth Akosua Ntiriwa, also known as “Black Chinese.”
