Parts of Accra and other major cities and towns across the country will in the coming weeks experience periodic cuts in water supplies.
This follows the decision by Ghana Water Company Limited to ration the commodity as water bodies that feed treatment plants continue to dry up.
A brief statement issued by the company said regions to be hit hard are Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central Western and Northern regions.
“With the onset of the dry season, the entire country is expected to experience challenges with water supply because of the depletion of raw water from the various water bodies,” the statement said.
GWCL is subsequently urging the consuming public to manage use of water to minimise the impact till the erratic supplies end.
“For now, because of the climatic changes as we know, it is a bit difficult to determine whether it will end in a month or two. The Ghana Water Company Limited has put in resilient measures and we also expect that consumers will also play their role so together we can minimise the impact.”
