Hearts of Oak coach keeps title ambitions under wraps

Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara remains tight-lipped on his team’s chances of winning the Ghana Premier League.

His side climbed to the top of the table after a 2-0 victory over Young Apostles, but when asked about their title prospects, Ouattara was cautious in his response.

“I can give you that answer on June 8,” he said. “Our next game against Dreams will be tough. Don’t forget, Karim Zito knows me very well.”

Michael Awuah opened the scoring for the Phobians in the first half as they dominated possession. Despite creating multiple chances, they couldn’t extend their lead before the break, with Young Apostles putting up a strong defensive effort.

In the second half, Hamza Issah doubled Hearts’ lead, securing all three points. The visitors attempted a late fightback but struggled to break through the Phobians’ solid defense.

Statistically, Hearts of Oak controlled 60% possession compared to Young Apostles’ 40%. They registered 15 goal attempts, with six on target, while Young Apostles managed 11 attempts, only two of which tested the goalkeeper.

The win gives Hearts a strong restart to the league, but they must wait for other results to see if they remain at the summit beyond the weekend.
