In Sweden, it is traditional for children to dress up as witches, old women, or in old men’s clothing and go door to door, getting treats. Yes! Much like Halloween, this tradition is most likely loved by children because of the sweets they receive; however, it stems from an old legend that witches flew to Blockula (translated as “blue hill,” it is an island where the Devil holds court) the Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) before Easter.
