President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has pledged to work tirelessly to promote and develop football across the African continent following his election to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Mr Okraku was elected uncontested to serve on the CAF Executive Committee from 2025 to 2029 as representative of WAFU B on the continent’s powerful football decision-making body.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Okraku expressed his deep sense of duty and commitment to the advancement of the sport on the continent, promising to serve with dedication and integrity.
“I am honoured to serve Ghana, WAFU, and CAF, and I pledge to work tirelessly to promote the development of African football and contribute meaningfully to the development of the game across the continent,” he wrote.
His election to the CAF high table places him among the top decision-makers responsible for shaping the future of football in Africa. Okraku said the opportunity to serve is both humbling and inspiring, and he intends to uphold the trust placed in him.
“I am deeply humbled and honoured to have been elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).”
He expressed profound gratitude to former President John Dramani Mahama and his government for their unwavering support throughout his journey and also thanked the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, for his instrumental backing.
The GFA boss further acknowledged the crucial role played by his colleagues on the Executive Council of the Football Association, the staff of the GFA, and members of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zones A and B.
“To the entire football fraternity in Ghana and across Africa—thank you for your continued support, belief, and love for the game.
“This accomplishment is as much yours as it is mine,” he stated.
