I’ll file an injunction against the 2024 elections – PNP’s Janet Nabla

Flagbearer of the People’s National Party (PNP) Janet Nabla says she will contest the Electoral Commission’s decision to disqualify her from the 2024 presidential elections.

Speaking exclusively on 3FM’s Midday News on Friday, September 20, she mentioned “I will go to the Supreme Court and fight the Electoral Commission for disqualifying me and also file an injunction against the Commission from conducting the December polls,” she emphasized.

The Electoral Commission (EC) on Friday, September 20 cleared thirteen candidates and declared them eligible to contest the 7, December polls.

Out of the 24 presidential candidates who filed nominations last week, Janet Nabla is amongst 11 candidates who have been disqualified by the EC. Most of the candidates disqualified are Independent candidates.

Addressing the media during the balloting of presidential aspirants, Madam Jean Mensa stated, that the running mate of the PNP failed to sign the nomination forms, thereby leading to the disqualification of the party.

    However, Janet Nabla disagrees.

“Most of the aspirants who have been cleared to contest had errors in their forms, yet the EC cleared them to contest, is that not unfair? I was there when those people came to correct mistakes but for us, it was just some two people that could not put their polling station names. The EC asked us to correct it which we did on the same day, but these people I’m talking about spent more than five days in correcting theirs,” she explained.

Dissatisfied Janet Nabla expressed doubt about the capability of Jean Mensa and the Commission to conduct a free, fair, and transparent election.

” These people … cannot be able to give us any credible election in 2024. This is the reason why I am calling on the international body to bring in an international forensic auditor to audit all our forms and we will see wonders,” Madam Nabla urged.

The candidates who were disqualified after the thorough review process are; Samuel Appiah Danquah, an Independent candidate, Janet Nabla, an Independent candidate, Desmond Abrefa, an Independent candidate, Nana Agyepong Stevens, an Independent candidate, Paul Perko, an Independent candidate, Bernard Mornah of the PNC, James Kwesi Oppong, an Independent Candidate, Samuel Sarpong Ankrah, an Independent candidate, Nii Amu Darko, an Independent candidate and Asamoah Siaw of the Progressive People’s Party.
