The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has voiced her frustration over the handling of the constituency’s election results by the Electoral Commission (EC) and its leadership.
Three months after the election, she laments that the parliamentary seat for Ablekuma North remains vacant, leaving constituents without representation.
In a post on X, Aubynn criticized EC Chairperson Jean Mensah and other officials, including Mr. Bossman Asare, Dr. Serebuor, Mr. Simon Tettey, Mr. Fred Tetteh, Mr. Francis Opoku, and Mr. Obeng, for what she described as “multiple shady incidents” involving the EC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the elections, a reason she believes explains why her constituency is without representation.
Detailing specific instances of alleged electoral malpractice, Aubynn cited the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the EC district head for Ablekuma North, Mr. Francis Opoku, were allegedly caught sneaking in parliamentary pink sheets totaling over 400 votes.
The NPP, from the onset of collation, claimed they could not produce a single physical pink sheet, presenting only scanned results.
She questioned whether the pink sheets allegedly introduced later by the EC district head had been fabricated beforehand, further casting doubt on the credibility of the declared results.
In her view, “the fact remains that the EC and the Ghana Police, who were right there, watched it all happen but have kept their silence,” Aubynn wrote.
“The shady circumstances surrounding the results remain unexplained, even though everything unfolded in the presence of EC officials, NPP and NDC representatives, and the MCE,” she said.
“We witnessed with our own eyes how they sneaked in parliamentary sheets in the NPP’s favor, so there’s no telling what else they might have done behind closed doors when we weren’t watching.”
She further questioned whether the EC had taken any steps to verify the NDC’s claims about the electoral process.
“Has the Madam Jean Mensah-led EC bothered to invite the EC head to corroborate the assertion from the NDC side at the very least?” she asked.
Aubynn has since emphatically rejected the results declared by the EC, describing them as “cooked-up” and insisting that the NDC would not accept manipulated figures aimed at favoring the NPP.
“The NDC will never accept cooked-up, scanned results that the EC led by Madam Jean Mensah, Mr. Bossman Asare, Dr. Serebuor, Mr. Simon Tettey, Mr. Fred Tetteh, Mr. Francis Opoku, and Mr. Obeng are attempting to shove down our throats to favor the NPP.”

She asserted her claim to the parliamentary seat, urging the EC to take corrective action.
“Ewurabena Aubynn is the rightful winner of this election, and the Electoral Commission must stop playing games and do the right thing,” she stated.
The NDC candidate has also called on the Ghana Police Service, the Peace Council, the Chief Justice, and other relevant stakeholders to reject the scanned results submitted by the EC.
“We call upon the @GhPoliceService, @PeaceCouncilGH, The Chief Justice, and all stakeholders that the so-called scanned sheets are completely unacceptable and should be dismissed outright.
As tensions continue to rise over the disputed election outcome, all eyes remain on the Electoral Commission and relevant authorities for a resolution to the political deadlock in Ablekuma North.
