The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has asked all members to resume work today Thursday, October 10 after suspending its strike which also aimed to address frustrations over the government’s handling of illegal mining.
The decision to suspend the strike followed the suspension of Organised Labour’s nationwide strike.
“Respectfully, following the Organised Labour engagement with the Government, and enhanced measures announced by the Government to tackle the menace of illegal mining, Organised Labour, at its emergency meeting held today, 9th October 2024, resolved to suspend the indefinite strike.
“Accordingly, the National Executive Council (NEC) of JUSAG has suspended the indefinite strike. All employees of the Judicial Service have been directed to report to work tomorrow Thursday, 10th October with the decision Organised Labour.”
Organised Labour’s decided to suspend its planned strike at an emergency meeting on Wednesday, October 9.
The union leaders decided to suspend their industrial action, citing assurances from the government that it would increase efforts to combat illegal mining.
Joshua Ansah, Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), noted, “We will observe the government’s actions before deciding on our next steps.”
