Football fans were treated to another thrilling round of action in the UG Corporate Football League as match week 3(three)unfolded with intense encounters. The presence of former Black Stars players Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Samuel Inkoom, and ex–Kotoko player Jordan Opoku added an extra layer of excitement, but their respective teams endured mixed fortunes on the pitch.
Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu led GNPC to a commanding 2-0 victory over the College of Education. The experienced mid-fielder’s presence was instrumental in controlling the tempo of the game, using his vision and passing to break down the opposition. GNPC’s structured play and tactical discipline paid off, ensuring a well-earned three points.
Despite the creative brilliance of Jordan Opoku, the College of Humanities suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat at the hands of Ghana Armed Forces Sports Club (GAFOSC). Opoku, known for his exceptional ball control and playmaking ability, was at the heart of most attacking moves for his side, but the military side proved too resilient. Despite the loss, Opoku’s experience was evident as he dictated play in midfield and created goal-scoring opportunities.
It was a tough outing for former Black Stars right-back Samuel Inkoom and the Telecel Ghana team, as they suffered a disappointing 0-4 loss to Union Ghana. Inkoom’s defensive expertise was tested throughout the match as Union Ghana pressed aggressively and capitalized on their chances. Despite flashes of individual brilliance from the ex-Black Stars defender, Telecel struggled to contain their opponents and will need to regroup ahead of the next round of fixtures.
With match week 3 (three) wrapped up, all eyes are now on the next round, where these corporate teams will look to bounce back, build on their performances, and fight for supremacy in the UG Corporate Football League.
