Lynn Forbes Honours AKA’s Legacy On Emotional Trip To Istanbul. In a heartfelt social media post, Lynn Forbes shared a deeply moving experience that brought her closer to the spirit of her late son, rapper AKA. During a recent trip to Istanbul, Lynn reflected on Kiernan’s long-held dream of visiting Turkey with her mother, a place he cherished for its rich history and vibrant culture.
“Kiernan always wished to take us to visit Istanbul because he appreciated the rich history and vibrant culture of Türkiye so much!” she wrote, reminiscing about how the city now feels like a journey through her son’s footsteps. “It literally feels as if we are walking in his footsteps, with him leading the way wherever we go.”
The emotional trip was made all the more poignant by a visit to İsmail, a gracious host who welcomed them warmly. Lynn expressed her gratitude for the hospitality, reflecting on a special memory from March 2019 when Kiernan and his daughter Kairo had visited the Iznik Works, a place that now holds even more meaning.
“It’s such a beautiful and quite emotional moment, reminiscing about my son (AKA) and Kairo’s dad’s @akaworldwide’s visit to @iznikworks in March 2019,” Lynn Forbes shared, highlighting how their time there will forever be etched in her heart.
As the journey continued, Lynn shared how hearing stories from strangers about their interactions with AKA brought healing and warmth to her heart. “Hearing people, often strangers, relate stories about meeting you and their very memorable interactions with you, are very heartwarming but also brings healing to us at the same time,” she said, showing how Kiernan’s legacy continues to live on through the kindness of others.
The trip was also an opportunity for Lynn to honour AKA’s love for his family. She shared that DJ Zinhle had asked her to keep a beautiful vase that Kiernan had bought for her during his time in Istanbul. “I will keep it safe for @kairo.forbes to have when she grows up,” Lynn vowed, preserving the memory for her granddaughter.
For Lynn, this trip wasn’t just a visit to a foreign land—it was a journey of remembrance, healing, and love, as she walked in the steps of her son, AKA, who will always remain a cherished part of her heart and spirit.
