Certified chartered economist, Bernard Oduro Takyi has urged residents of Sunyani West in Bono Region to change their vote pattern and choose the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December elections.
The youth activist who is also a key member of the NDC National Youth Working Committee made the appeal during a community engagement programmme in his home constituency – Sunyani West.
Pointing to the challenges of the residents, Oduro Takyi also kbnown as (B.O.T) emphasised the hardship and rising youth unemployment in the area will reduce when they vote for the NDC and its flag bearer, former president John Dramani Mahama.
He said the people have been empoverished despite their MP, Ignatius baffour Awuah, is the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations who could have initiated policies to create employment opportunities for the youngsters in the area.
” Nobody inh the NPP knows Baffour Awuah than myself. He has failed us all and we have to change the way we vote. We have been voting one wa-one way for long. This time, lets cast our ballots the two-way formation and vote for the NDC and our candidate Millicent Amankwah,” B.O.T said.
“The NPP has neglected us in this constituency, the towns like Kwatre, Chiraa, Dumase have not seen any developmental project for the past 8 years sine the NPP took over power.
“Baffour Awuah has appointment as a minister and today he has built several mansions, and bought a football team with the riches he has made in government but you the young people of this constituency have no jobs. He can’t point to anyone he has helped to gain employment in the Ghana Police Service, the Armed Forces, or any of the government institutions. He has neglected his people and that is why we need to vote him out,” he stated.
Takyi went on to advise the people not to be deceived by the monies the MP and his NPP actors will share to the people few days to the elections, saying “he will come and do that to buy your conscience and will vanish until the next election is near.”
He said the NDC has better policies that will create sustainable jobs for the youth under the NDC’s 24-hour economy initiative, the Free Apprenticeship Programme, the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank among others.
He said Mahama has a track record and can be trusted to transform the area which has been neglected by the NPP for the past years although the people have been loyal to the NPP for a long time.
He mentioned of the community centres, clinics, markets, schools, small town water systems and schools the district can boast of were all constructed by the erstwhile NDC administration.
“The NPP cannot boast of any in this area,” he stated while ralling the people and chiefs of the communities to consider voting for the NDC for rapid development.
In other communities, he urged the people to ignore NPP flag bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and choose Mahama and the NDC PC, Millicent Amankwah, adding Mahama won’t neglect them when he comes to power.
