Microsoft Announces AI-Powered Bing Search Engine And Edge Browser

At a press event today, Microsoft officially launched its all-new, AI-powered Bing search engine and Edge browser, available in preview now at Bing.com, to deliver better search, more complete answers, a new chat experience, and the ability to generate content.

“AI will fundamentally change every software category, starting with the largest category of all – search,” said Satya Nadella, Chairman and CE, of Microsoft.

“Today, we’re launching Bing and Edge powered by AI copilot and chat, to help people get more from search and the web.”

With the new AI-powered search engine, users will be able to search the web and use a chat feature to receive answers in a more natural language.

The bing search engine has a new chat experience that users can use to will make complex searches including planning a detailed trip itinerary or researching what TV to buy.

The new engine will also be able to generate content for users including the ability to write an email, create a 5-day itinerary for a vacation, prep for a job interview, or create a quiz for trivia night.

New Egde Brower With AI Capabilities

At the event, Microsoft also showed off a new version of its Edge browser that includes A.I. technologies built-in.

With the new browser, users would be able to do things like summarize search results with A.I.’s help and converse with A.I. chatbots to get their questions answered.

With the Edge Sidebar, users can ask for a summary of a lengthy financial report to get the key takeaways – and then use the chat function to ask for a comparison to a competing company’s financials and automatically put it in a table.

Users can also use Edge to help compose content, such as a LinkedIn post, by giving it a few prompts to get started. Users can tweak the content by asking the AI to update the tone, format, and length of the post.

The new Bing is available today in a limited preview on desktop, and everyone can visit Bing.com today to try sample queries and sign up for the waitlist.

A mobile experience will also be in preview soon.
