Minority Chief Whip urges Agric Minister to backdown on Eastern Region under lockdown comment

Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Kwame Governs Agbodza has issued a stern warning to his colleague MP, Bryan Acheampong over the showdown comments the Abetifi lawmaker made regarding the December 7, elections.

Bryan Acheampong who doubles as the Minister for Food and Agriculture at a rally in the Eastern region on Saturday, 23 November, 2024 boasted that his party, the New Patriotic Party has put in place measures that will enable them win the December 7 elections.

The Abetifi MP also threatened to deal with anyone who dares mess up with the party’s chances declaring that the Eastern region is under a lockdown.

His comments were however considered a direct threat to the opposition National Democratic Congress who are in a fierce battle to oust the ruling New Patriotic Party.

At a final regional rally in Hohoe, Saturday afternoon, Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Kwame Governs Agbodza responded to the comments indicating that the NDC is ready to stand up to the Bryan Acheampong and the NPP.

“Your (Bryan Acheampong) talk is cheap, serving at the military kitchen doesn’t make you a brave person. You might have actually gotten away with crime in the past in terms of the Ayawaso West Wuogon and other things, but I guarantee you, bring it on even in the Eastern region, we shall meet you along the way.”

The Minority Chief Whip declared that the NDC is prepared and ready to thwart any strategies the NPP has put in place to win the election.

He reminded the charged crowd of NDC members gathered at the RC park in Hohoe for the rally not to let their guards down as the December 7 election approaches.
