Mohammed Kudus sent off after scoring as West Ham fall to Tottenham

Mohammed Kudus had a day to forget, receiving a red card after scoring in West Ham’s heavy defeat to Tottenham.

The midfielder let his frustration get the better of him when he raised his hand, catching Micky van de Ven and Pape Sarr in the face, which led to his dismissal.

Initially shown a yellow card, VAR intervened and upgraded it to red, resulting in Kudus missing West Ham’s next three games.

This capped off a difficult week, despite a promising start to the day when Kudus scored a clinical goal to put West Ham ahead in the London derby.

However, Spurs equalised just before halftime, and an eight-minute spell in the second half saw them score three goals, with Yves Bissouma, Son Heung-Min, and an own goal securing a 4-1 victory.

Kudus, visibly frustrated after Tottenham’s surge, lashed out at Van de Ven and Sarr, resulting in his first Premier League red card.

Earlier in the week, Kudus had apologised to Ghanaians following the Black Stars’ defeat to Sudan, a result that has all but ended Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite recent struggles, Kudus has scored two goals in his last two games, highlighting his importance to West Ham.

He will now miss the upcoming matches against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and Everton.
