Renowned pollster and lead researcher at Global InfoAnalytics, Musa Dankwa, has urged former President John Mahama not to remove the current Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, if he returns to power.
According to him, the performance and leadership qualities of the IGP have made him the most popular security chief in recent history.
In a post on Facebook on Thursday, Mr. Dankwa appealed to the Supreme Court to expedite its ruling on the case involving the removal of certain security heads by an incoming president.

“The Supreme Court reserves the right to decide which cases it must expedite for quick resolution. The application for a ruling on the removal of security heads by presidents, I would have thought, should be deemed urgent due to the pending election, and that a new government would require clarity on the matter before taking any action.
“The Court sat on this case — which, to me, is more important than many of the cases they expedited for quick resolution. Now, we are hearing that the IGP is on the chopping board. Did the Court not see this coming, or did they not think the government was going to change?” he wrote.
He stressed:
“Justice delayed is justice denied, just like the way the Court handled Domelevo’s case. I don’t know the IGP’s personal issues, but he is the most popular IGP in recent history. If I were the President, I would not have fired the IGP.“
His comments follow similar concerns expressed by IMANI Ghana over reported plans by the government to remove Dr. Dampare.
