Officials of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress are in sharp disagreement over choice of venues as collation centers for the Awutu Senya East and Awutu Senya West Constituencies ahead of the December 7 elections.
While the NPP agrees for the newly built Central East Regional (CER) Police Command to be used as the collation center for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, the NDC had taken a contrasting position.
They argued that the Kasoa Divisional Police Headquarters should be maintained as the collation center.
Seth Sarbah Sewornoo, the Kasoa NDC Deputy Secretary who spoke to 3News.com following a meeting between various heads of security and political parties at the Central East Regional Police Headquarters said the party will not soften its stance.
Bismark Owusu, the NPP constituency organizer on the other hand has accused the NDC of being inconsistent with the provision of representatives for security meetings ahead of the elections including its position on the subject.
According to him, the utilization of the CER Police Headquarters was the proposal of the NDC’s constituency organizer, Daniel Takyi Mensah who represented the party at an initial meeting and seconded by the NPP.
Meanwhile, the Awutu Senya West NDC branch is also rejecting the choice of the Awutu Winton Senior High School as collation center.
Constituency communications officer, Cassius Otoo Larbi, speaking to 3News.com following the meeting said the new venue does not even meet the criteria set out in the guidelines for selecting a venue.
He does not fathom why the Police is rejecting the proposed Business Resource Center located within the administrative center of the Awutu Breku township.
