Ghana coach Otto Addo is confident of securing a first win in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola on Friday evening in Luanda.
The Black Stars have gone four games without a victory, putting their qualification hopes in jeopardy.
A failure to beat Angola would confirm Ghana’s elimination, marking the first time the Black Stars would miss out on AFCON qualification since 2004.
“It’s time for our first victory in this competition. I think it’s a great opportunity to keep our chances alive,” he said ahead of Friday’s game.
“These are difficult games. You can’t take it for granted that they will play at 50 per cent, I know Angola will be 100 per cent ready. It’s going to be difficult. It’s an away game, and it’s going to be very tight. But mentally, the boys are ready.”
Ghana currently sits at the bottom of Group F with two points , making a win against Angola crucial to maintain their slim hopes of qualifying.
Despite the absence of several key players, including Thomas Partey and Inaki Williams, the 49-year-old expressed confidence in his new players who joined the squad recently.
“The atmosphere is really good. The new players have adapted well and have shown in training that they understand our playing philosophy. It’s a big challenge, but I’m confident they’ll deliver.”
Black Stars’ match against Angola will be played at the 11 de Novembro Stadium with kickoff at 7pm local time.
