Partey returns as Asare earns first Black Stars call-up

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has unveiled a 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Captain Jordan Ayew leads the team, which features three home-based players: Benjamin Asare of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kamaradini Mamudu of Medeama SC, and Razak Simpson of Nations FC.

Deputy captain and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey makes his return after missing four AFCON qualifiers last year. Partey, who has over 50 caps since his 2016 debut, brings valuable experience to the squad.

Key inclusions are Kamal Deen Sulemana of Southampton FC, who is back from injury, and Jerry Afriyie of CD Lugo, who impressed in the match against Niger. Belgium-based Christopher Bonsu Baah of Genk also makes the cut.

The team will convene on March 17, 2025, for a four-day training camp before facing Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21. They will then travel to Morocco for a clash against Madagascar on March 24.

Ghana, currently second in Group I with nine points from four matches, remains in contention for qualification after wins against Madagascar, Mali, and the Central African Republic, with their only loss coming against Comoros.
