The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Antoinette TsiboeDarko has inaugurated the Koforidua Technical University Chapter of The Patriotic Intellectuals, a pro-NPP group made up of lecturers of the Koforidua Technical University known as as the Caucus at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
Delivering his welcome address, the Chairman of Koforidua Technical University Chapter of Patriotic Intellectuals, a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group, Professor William Gyadu Asiedu (PI), argued that the progress the Akufo-Addo-led Administration has made is unmatched in the history of Ghana.
He expressed worry that the country has been plunged into a state of unnecessary fear, stress, and near hopelessness not because the real situation dictates so, but because propaganda has made it so. According to him amid these realities which threaten the very survival of the NPP, it became necessary as patriots, to come together and re-think their roles for the future.
He entreated Ghanaians to look at the numerous interventions by the Akufo-Addo government and retain the NPP to help better the lives of citizens.
In her brief remarks, Dr Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, also the Executive Director for Danquah Institute congratulated the members urging them to foster and promote unity among all members on campus and, implored them to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Party.
She also took the opportunity to introduce to academia, the policies and programmes of the Danquah institute.
She appealed to the academia of the University to use their medium to be the mouthpiece to propagate the good works of the government.
A senior research fellow of the University of Ghana, Dr George Domfe, used the occasion to highlight the need to honour achievements chalked by the government on the economy.
He touted the economic progress Ghana made and acknowledged it to be among the fastest-growing economies in the world for three years.
He appealed to the academia to engage citizens and promote the success of the country.
A Deputy Director of Communications of the NPP, Yaw Adomako Baafi, in his remarks, noted that the NPP cannot break the eight agenda in 2024 without the academia, hence the need for them to augment their voice and help restore confidence in Ghanaians.
Speaking to Net2tv in an interview, the immediate past Pro Vice Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University, Professor John Owusu, reiterated that, propaganda should not be allowed to fester and should quickly be responded to intellectually.
